Today I marched as a strong independent woman. I marched to protect and advance the rights of women and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in this country.
As I started walking with mostly strangers (who chanted and discussed topics ranging from rape, equal pay, body rights, and support), I was surprisingly struck with emotion (I also cry at commercials, so this event hit me pretty hard). It also brought forward many memories, struggles and celebrations in my own journey to who I am today. The strong and positive energy from the many women, men and children blew me away.
I will continue to do my very best as a role model to all the young women in my life – how they can be themselves, make their own decisions and stand up to and for those around them.
